Casio G-Shock GA-2100SKE Social Media Concept Posts

Over the past decade I have been wearing a G-Shock watch on my wrist nearly everyday that still operates, looks and feels the same since the day  I bought it. I have been a massive fan of the Casio G-Shock watches that are almost indestructible timepieces marketed fairly at an extremely affordable price. With this personal concept project of mine exercising creative ideas for social platforms, I have decided to focus my attention on the Casio GA-2100 model that has been called the “AP Royal Oak” due to its octagon shape and style of an Audemars Piquet costing only 0.2% of the price.

The watch itself comes in various colors and is also available in a classic skeleton series format that has been iconic for the Casio brand using a clear resin material band and case model.

My idea for the animation was to come up with a glitch effect that builds up from the first few seconds that transitions into the watch image itself with a moving analog dial. Showing one of its unique selling points of the dual functionality time alongside standard date, alarm and other time zone features that I have left alone. I wanted people to pay attention to the dial itself with its clear case and illustrative line concept almost like a wireframe of a skeleton.

For the audio I really wanted to use a soundtrack for each animation however I was faced with a challenge of overdoing the composition as I wanted to make it suitable for wherever it would be posted. I used a static noise for the Casio transition and left it alone till the end for a TV effect closing. Overall, I’m glad with how these animations have turned out with detailed meaning behind each render. A combination attracting the user towards finding more about the watch with another few extra lines of words that can be added on top if necessary.
